Some hints; You have nothing to declare because you will return with everything. So don't declare your cameras or electronics. Unless you have more than $5000, don't declare your funds. Your reason for travel is tourism. You will tell them the address of the first place you are staying, that is sufficient. And lastly, you are not affiliated with any specific organization or institution.
These are the categories and restrictions by the U.S. Treasury Department for the legal travel of Americans to Cuba. If you are from another country, most of these restrictions don't apply to you, but you may not return with prohibited items, i.e. rum or cigars.

When you purchase your ticket, your reason for traveling to Cuba will be "In Support of the Cuban People." or "People to People Educational.". You are not a tourist in the eyes of the U.S. government, even though on your Cuba customs form, you are a tourist. All lodging, meals, and transportation arrangements are with private individuals and not with Cuban companies.
This is the currency used on the streets and in private stores. You can exchange Euros, USD, and CAND, for CUP at Cadecas and banks. There is an official rate of exchange, and there is the street price. Officially, as of July 11, 2023, $1 USD = 25.75 CUP. The street price (eltoque.com) is $1 USD = 210 CUP. Because of this disparity and inflation, it is best to ask for advice about changing money when you arrive in Cuba.
This is the currency used in government stores, enterprises, and many hotels. It is a digital currency in the form of a debit card that can be purchased at banks and Cadecas.
Can be used in Cuba as long as they are not issued from the United States. Do not expect to go to an ATM with a U.S. credit card.
This is the easiest and most effective way to pay for most items you will need, and bring plenty of small denominations Euros and USD are the preferred forms of cash. Most restaurants and private businesses will take cash and offer competitive exchange rates. You can exchange a small amount fo pocket money on the streets. If you want to buy Rum and Cigars from a government store (remember, you can't take them back to the U.S.), you can buy an MLC debit card. EyeCuba staff can also help with this
There is more violent crime in a minor U.S. city in a night than in a year in Cuba. That said, it is a very poor country, and petty theft is a concern. Keep an eye on your personal items and keep them close. Anything in lodging will be safe.
Again you are very safe but be smart, and in the dark be vigilant and travel in small groups of two or three.
It is advisable to carry large bills in one place and small bills in another. This allows you to pay for small purchases on the streets without fumbling with large unfamiliar bills.
